Have we underestimated the impact of the built and natural environment on people’s quality of life, and in creating inclusive, equal, and just societies? While policy and social initiatives command a lot of attention, when it comes to social value and equity; the way we design, construct, and operate the places where people live is central to driving positive social change.
This report presents Arup’s new and adaptable ‘Theory of Change’, using real-world case studies to show how social value and equity can be embedded in the planning and design of our towns, cities, and infrastructure. It also outlines the benefits of such approach and how meaningful community engagement and effective, cross-sector collaboration can deliver social value and equity through a variety of built environment projects.
